Yeah I agree, Tevez is a terrific player but really is not who we need. I see another 24 hours went by and no movement. Get your chequebook out Arsene! Sign that defensive midfielder we're crying out for (and if you can swap Ashley for Billy Gallas plus cash that would be lovely too...)

Hi Lasgnechef! Thanks for adding my link in your blog (the description was nice too . . . grrrrrr). Fabregas is a very talented player but Vieira was a league apart. He was the pivot and he was like what Makelele is to Chelsea. I feel Arsenal is yet to replace Vieira, may be you would if you sign Mascherano.

Hey White Ox! Thanks a lot for your constructive feedback. May be even Arsene, like Mourinho, is not fully convinced with his current formation or may be he wants to tinker it. Otherwise I dont see why he is interested in Tevez. If Arsenal are going back to 4-5-1, Tevez may not have a role to play as he is more of a winger, centre-forward than an attacking midfielder left. Players like Duff/Robben have played in the left midfield as well as the left wing but I dont see Tevez with this flexibility.

And thanks for visiting the blog and keep dropping in & be sure to add the feeds!

We did replace Pires, and well with Tomas Rosicky. Vieira has been replaced too with Cesc Fabregas.

I've added you on my links. I wouldn't usually but since you're always reading my blog I suppose I'll let you have it. But if a load of Chelsea blogs start coming to me it's all you fault

Found your blog courtesy of your link on Gunnerblog. Have to say I find Arseblog hilarious but I can see why blogger upsets other fans, he thinks tact is a brand of soap and has a real blue streak, hope his mum doesn't read his blog.

As a gooner living in Australia I'd like to rebut - it's really not all doom and gloom for Arsenal. No, we're not going to contend this year, but it was never the plan. I think Arsene appreciates we can't match Chelsea at the moment and is building a side to challenge in the next 2-3 years.

And I think you've got it bang on, we don't need a spate of signings, our problems could be solved with one - Javier Mascherano. We've got some fantastic talent up front and in attacking midfield but no-one who'll do the dirty work and put a boot in.

Sadly, I worry that you're right and Arsene won't sign anyone. For me it gives the wrong message. Sure, it's fine to try and take on your lot Busby babes style and wait for the kids to blossom, but the balance in the squad is wrong. Without the bit more experience that one or two older players will bring there is a very real danger that our season will implode and we will fail to finish top four - I really fear the fall out from that one.

Anyway, it's good to find a Chelsea blog with a level headed author, I'll keep dropping by and adding my wisdom and insight (yeah right) every now and then. And I don't begrudge you your success, you had to wait a bloody long time for it, and you now have a squad full of footballers I admire - that Sheva is an absolute champ...

I agree that bench strength of Man Utd is very weak and I dont expect them to hold on to their top spot by end of September.

Well I do agree that Arsenal are struggling to score at the moment but once the team gets out of their slumber, they will be a force this season again. All they need are their top guns to be on goal-scoring form. They got to the final of the CL without Sol Campbel and Cole for the majority of the tournament. Their only weakness is not having a squad to be consistent in more than one competition.

As for Akrash's comments about it being a two horse race, he must be having a laugh! Liverpool will be ahead of Man Utd. once the scum get an injury or two up front and not being able to cope once the season is in full fledge. United are donig well now but don't have the squad to play Champions League, FA Cup and the league. They will need a quality striker and perhaps another back up in central MF (Hargreaves??) to stand a chance.

Liverpool on the other hand have made some astute acquisitions in the transfer market, especially on the wings and in attack. Even Agger and Paletta were good buys in DF. If Liverpool get back up on the right buy selling Kromkamp and buying Daniel Alves, the squad will be complete. It will take some time for the team to gel but once they do the title won't be out of reach! Early days yet...

Ok. That's what I understood later from my friends later. I happened to see the replays in the post-match programme but I saw it just once, so I could easily be wrong.

the giggs goal was a back pass to the keeper so it wasn't offside and i completely agree that its going to be a three horse race if not a two horse race between MU and Chelsea

To quote Arsene Wenger - "Overall, unlike some defeats that are really worrying, this one was encouraging and you have to take a lot of positives out of today's game".

He must be joking or something. Give us a break, positives and all that crap. Arsenal's game yesterday stinked. Looking at Arsene sitting in his chair with an 'about-to-cry' face I dont think he was looking at positives!
